The quote-levelling spreadsheet
Quotes can’t be compared as totals — only as line items. This is the exact levelling sheet used in paid teardowns, free for one trade package, with the method built into it.
How the method works
- 1
List every scope item down the left — from the most detailed quote, then add anything the others mention that it missed.
- 2
Enter each trade’s price against each line. The blanks that appear are the conversation: a blank isn’t “included”, it’s “unpriced”.
- 3
Send each trade their blanks and ask for line prices. Refusal to itemise is itself information.
- 4
Compare the completed columns. The cheapest complete quote is rarely the one that looked cheapest on page one.
Why it’s free: because the method is the proof. If the sheet finds you a gap, you’ll know exactly what the paid teardown does across your whole quote set — with an expert driving it.
